Twisting and turning

INSIDE

On small pieces of paper, ask your child to draw several arrows that can be used to represent moving one step in a straight line.

In addition, create a series of arrows that represent a quarter, half and three-quarter turns, in both directions.

Lay out a series of symbols and ask your child to see if they can follow the pathway. For example, you might select the following order of symbols:

These symbols represent the pathway of forwards, backwards, quarter turn right, forwards, three-quarter turn left, backwards.

You can also change the number of steps a straight arrow represents (e.g. one arrow = three steps).
