Season cycles
OUTSIDE
Create a timeline that represents the cyclical nature of our weather and seasons.
Take a piece of paper and cut it into a circle.
Ask your child to fold it into quarters by folding in half and half again.
Label each quarter a season, and help your child to write the names of the months for each season.
Ask your child questions such as:
- Which season is the first quarter of our calendar year?
- What season is three-quarters of the way through our year?
- What month / season do we celebrate important family or cultural events?
You can also ask your child to decorate each quarter with symbols that represent the weather and nature relevant to where you live for that season.
