Ready, aim, fire!

OUTSIDE

A lever allows you to lift heavy objects with relatively light force by applying the use of a longer rigid structure and a pivot point.

A common lever is a seesaw.

A catapult is an example of how a lever can throw an object long distances.

You can create a catapult using pop sticks, some rubber bands, a spoon and a cotton ball (or something to launch of your choice).

Here is a great example of how to construct a catapult on the Generation Genius website.

Encourage your child to experiment with different objects and record their distances.
