INSIDE
LEGO kits or model toy kits – even flat-pack furniture provide a great opportunity for you and your child to discuss how pictures help us build and create different objects.
Discuss with them what they notice about the visual instructions of the LEGO / toy kit or furniture.
Here is an example of an image you might like to use as well:

Some questions you might ask your child about this image are, ‘How many different types of fittings are there?’ Or, ‘What do you notice about the different parts of the chair?’
For example, long legs and short screws / different number of items, the legs go under the seat, etc.
When discussing the assembly of the object or toy, such as in the image below, discuss what the picture is trying to communicate.
For example, what do the numbers in the circles mean? Do we have to follow the numbers in order?
