Playing with patterns
INSIDE
With your child, explore creating a range of spatial patterns using different types of household items.
For example, you can use cups or containers to create a pattern of ‘tall, tall, short’ objects.
Ask your child to keep the pattern going.
You can make a mistake in a pattern (e.g. ‘tall, tall, short, tall, tall, short, tall, short, tall’) and ask your child to fix it.
Try different types of patterns for them to copy or fix (e.g. ‘up, down, up down’, or ‘skip, skip, jump, jump, skip, skip, jump, jump’).
