Privacy: How the ELSA At Home parent survey will collect, store and use data
Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988. The University of Canberra will not collect any personal information as part of this online survey.
All data, including identifiable information (such as name and email address) provided as part of the optional video-recorded interview (below) will be securely stored on servers within Australia, with a unique but meaningless number assigned to each participant (no personal information is being sent overseas); and de-identified (removing names of participant) before being used in reports (or any future academic papers).
The researcher will take every care to remove any identifying material from the responses you provide as early as possible. Likewise, individuals’ responses will be kept confidential by the researcher and will (or participants will) not be identified in the reporting of the research. However, the researcher cannot guarantee the confidentiality or anonymity of material transferred by email or the internet.
You can get more information about the way in which the University of Canberra will manage data, including requesting a copy of our privacy policy, by emailing elsa.schools@canberra.edu.au
Do you give consent?
Participation in any research project is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you do not have to. If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw from the project at any stage.
If you choose to withdraw after you have submitted your online survey responses, it will only be possible to remove your data if you are able to specify the date and time of your submission. Your data will then be deleted from our server. You can also withdraw your consent after participating in the optional video-recorded interview, and your data will be deleted.
By clicking ‘I consent‘ below, you are indicating that you have read and understood the Participant Information Sheet (PDF) and give your consent to be involved in the online survey component of this research.
