On the river, on the bank
OUTSIDE
This game involves making four distinct areas on the ground: two as the ‘banks’ (that you can name as left and right), a ‘river’ such as a path or driveway, and an ‘island’ – which is a defined area somewhere in the river.
Next, give the command, ‘Go to the left bank, and then to the island’.
Or, ‘Land on the island, but visit the right bank on your way’.
Once your child is familiar with following the instructions, then extend the game by playing ‘opposites’.
Here your child needs to do the opposite of what you say (e.g. if you say, ‘On the left bank’, your child needs to run to ‘the right bank’.
