How far can it roll?
INSIDE
An inclined plane is a flat surface with one end higher than the other.
This allows for heavy objects to slide up to a higher or lower point rather than be lifted.
Create an inclined plane with materials you have around the home, such as a stiff piece of cardboard, a hardcover book, a plank of wood and something to prop the surface up on one end.
Using a ball, marble or toy with wheels, experiment with your child on how far your object can roll based on the height of the inclined plane.
Your child might experiment with two different objects at the same incline or the same object at a range of different heights.
Encourage your child to record their findings as they go and discuss what they discovered about their objects.
