Friends of 10 Snap

INSIDE

Playing card games is a great way to help your child recognise numbers and patterns.

To play Friends of 10 Snaps, remove all the picture cards (except the aces) from a normal deck of cards.

Split the deck in half and take a pile each.

Take turns placing a card down between you and your child.

When two cards make a friend of 10, that is a snap.

For example, if you place a 6 down, and your child places a 4, this makes a ‘Friend of 10’ (because it adds up to 10), as does 2 and 8, etc.

The first person to place their hand down on this ‘snap’ wins the deck, and you start again.

The winner is the player who collects all the cards (or, for a shorter game, the one with the most cards after 10 snaps).
