Exploring equal groups

INSIDE

Ask your child to select eight similar objects.

Then ask them to work out how many ways they can make equal-sized groups with this collection.

For example, they could create eight groups with one object, four groups with two objects and two groups with four objects.

Change the number of starting objects (even number of objects only) and see how many ways they can create equal groups with the different numbers of objects.

Ask your child to describe what they notice about the number of groups and the size of each group (i.e. the more groups they create, the smaller number of objects there are in each group).
